At the turn of the 20th Century women went one
whole month between salon visits and in the 1950’s they went about a week.
While this may sound totally unhygienic and kind of gross to the modern woman,
we’ve all seen Titanic, Chicago, and The Seven Year Itch enough times to know how darn glamorous females
were back then.
In the 1960’s the first dry shampoo was born. If you’ve
never heard of or tried dry shampoo before, start deciding what to do with all
of that time that’s just been freed up for you in the morning. Dry shampoo is
an extra fine powder that is sprayed onto the roots and absorbs excess oil from
the scalp between washes, leaving hair manageable, styleable, and quite
importantly, smelling good. While dry
shampoo cannot completely replace a good ol’ wash, lather, and rinse it sure is
a time saver once or twice a week.
Not sure where to start? No problem! We’ve got quite a few
options for every hair type and budget.
With its fun and bright packaging, Batiste really pays
homage to the 1960 roots of dry shampoo (pun intended), but the labels aren’t
just all for show. Batiste comes in different scents like Tropical and Cherry,
as well as different colors for red heads, blondes and brunettes!

Magazines, the No-Poo Quick Cleanser’s white residue free formula is known for

Quick Tips for successful dry shampooing:
- Leave enough distance between the can and your head when applying (Each brand usually has its own recommended distance).
- Focus on your roots as it is the source of the oil.
- Never use on wet hair (DRY shampoo).
- Let dry shampoo rest two minutes after applying before styling.
