3 Follicle Flubs and How to Fix Them

Flub #1: You, like 75% of the women in the United States, dye or bleach your hair regularly. We all know that bleaching and processing strips your hair of its natural pigment and makes it more susceptible to breakage and other damage.

Fix: Believe us we know how difficult it is to let those stray grays go untamed or just live with your natural color when there are so many other exciting options out there. Thanks to Pureology and Moroccan Oil you can dye your hair and strengthen it too. Other strengthening definitely worth mentioning include those by Paul Mitchell and Nioxin which just so happen to be buy one get one 50% off right now.

Morocaan Oil Repair Shampoo & Conditioner do just that
by bathing hair in a highly concentrated formula rich in antioxidant argan oil, reconstructive keratin and fatty acids. Both products restore elasticity, moisture and manageability.

New Strength Cure from Pureology is formulated with Asta-Repair™ including Astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant, the luxuriously creamy formulas help heal and provide the perfect balance of strength and velvety softness.

Flub #2: Heat Styling on the Regular

This like the bleaching and dying is kind of a no-brainer. What doesn’t get damaged when regularly exposed to high heat? Blow drying and straightening your hair every day or several times a week could be why your hair is dry, frizzy, and unruly. We would NEVER tell you to give up your beloved blow dryers and other heat tools because good hair is the best accessory in our book!

Fix: Lucky for you, we carry a myriad of heat protectant sprays! Two of our favorites are new  Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer with Heat Protection from Redken and Alterna Bamboo Smooth Anti-Breakage Thermal Protectant Spray.

This light weight never-greasy formula protects hair from heat damage and leaves it bouncy and soft.

New Pillow Proof Express Primer from Redken cuts blow dry time, protects from heat up to 450 degrees, helps reduce breakage and provides 24-hour lasting volume without weighing hair down.

Flub #3: Brushing Your Hair While it’s Still Wet
So you like to let your hair air dry to avoid the flub we just discussed above, but you can’t go to work with a wet mop of

tangles on your head. What’s a girl to do? Brush it while it’s still wet obviously. Unfortunately, this can cause just as much damage as regular heat styling (well unless you take the precautions also listed). When hair is wet it loses 1/3 of its strength. Ripping a brush through it is a oneway ticket to broken hair city.

Fix: Invest in a good brush, one with wide bristles like Olivia Gardner Finger Brushes. The bristles are far apart for lesspulling and breakage. Even with the best of brushes like the Finger Brush it is definitely important to always brush gently, especially when your hair is wet.
